Working Paper # 15 – Reporting on Sustainable Development in Support of National Decision Makers (March 1993)

This is one of the four background reports on sustainable development reporting prepared for the Task Force on Reporting of the NRTEE. The purpose of these reports is to access current Canadian ability to undertake effective reporting on progress toward sustainable development. As we have come to understand better the many links between environmental quality, human health, social well-being and economic prosperity, we have become aware of the need to pursue an "alternative agenda", one which explicitly integrates all of these dimensions of development. Not surprisingly, governments are finding that many of the information systems that served them well in meeting the needs of the standard agenda are deficient in helping them address this "alternative agenda".
