News media play a major part in shaping our personal and political reactions to environmental problems. This handbook recognizes the critical role of journalists in providing environmental information and the need to support them in the difficult task of interpreting complex environmental issues. This handbook doesn't provide all the answers, of course, but it includes a compact encyclopedia or glossary of the most common environmental topics and terminology, guides to effective coverage of environmental issues, and a directory of useful contacts. It is written for journalists by a journalist.
