January 24, 2012 – Building Business Resilience in a Changing Climate: A Path Forward for Business and Government
The actions of Canadian business to build resilience to the consequences of climate change will shape our country’s ability to adapt and prosper in a warming world. That is why the NRT brought together leaders from the private and public sectors to help chart a path that supports private-sector climate adaptation and includes both short-term tactics and long-term strategies for governments, businesses and other stakeholders. A particular focus was on defining priority actions that should be undertaken by various levels of government.
Participants:
- Heard key conclusions on business resilience and adaptation to climate change by the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy (NRT) in advance of their release to the public.
- Advised the NRT on the direction, focus, and urgency of actions by government, industry, and other stakeholders to position Canada’s private sector to adapt and prosper in a changing climate. The NRT’s preliminary list of recommended actions resulting from research and convening activities over the course of the year was be an input to this discussion.
- Learned from Canadian leaders and strengthened networks of peers in the private and public sectors through an exclusive dialogue.
The Network for Business Sustainability assisted us in delivering this event.
