CONVENE

We convene opinion leaders and experts from across Canada around our table to share their knowledge and diverse perspectives. We stimulate debate and integrate polarities. We create a context for possibilities to emerge.

ADVISE

We generate ideas and provide realistic solutions to advise governments, Parliament and Canadians. We proceed with resolve and optimism to bring Canada’s economy and environment closer together.

The NRTEE’s Response to its obligations under the Kyoto Protocol Implementation Act

The Kyoto Protocol Implementation Act (KPIA) passed by Parliament in June 2007 stipulates that every year, the Government of Canada must prepare a Climate Change Plan describing the measures and policies it has enacted to meet its
obligations under the Kyoto Protocol. KPIA mandates NRT to conduct research and assess the likelihood that the proposed measures will achieve the emissions reductions forecasted in the plan and meet the Kyoto targets.
