FINDING SUSTAINABLE PATHWAYS

OUR PROCESS

Our process helps Canada achieve sustainable development solutions that integrate environmental and economic considerations to ensure the lasting prosperity and well-being of our nation.

RESEARCH

We rigorously research and conduct high quality analysis on issues of sustainable development. Our thinking is original and thought provoking.

CONVENE

We convene opinion leaders and experts from across Canada around our table to share their knowledge and diverse perspectives. We stimulate debate and integrate polarities. We create a context for possibilities to emerge.

ADVISE

We generate ideas and provide realistic solutions to advise governments, Parliament and Canadians. We proceed with resolve and optimism to bring Canada’s economy and environment closer together.

Degrees of Change: Climate Warming and the Stakes for Canada – Convene

The Round Table’s Degrees of Change report and diagram integrate scientific information from many disciplines and involved the guidance and assistance of many external experts and reviewers.  The Royal Canadian Geographical Society (RCGS) was our partner in presenting the Degrees of Change diagram and related research in the October 2010 issues of Canadian Geographic, Géographica, the Canadian Atlas Online, and to high school students across Canada through a series of lesson plans.

EVENTS

October 5, 2010 – The National Round Table (NRTEE) and the Royal Canadian Geographical Society released the Degrees of Change diagram, an NRTEE compiled document which lays out potential effects of a changing climate on Canada at different degrees of warming. The diagram was included in the October issue of Canadian Geographic and Géographica magazines, which are almost wholly-devoted to climate change.

October 2010 – Regional Outreach Sessions

To generate a national conversation on the impacts of climate change and potential solutions, the National Round Table (NRTEE) and the The Royal Canadian Geographical Society (RCGS) hosted a series of panel discussions with leading Canadian experts.
