The United Nations Conference on Environment and Development was held in Brazil, opening on World Environment Day — June 5, 1992. This book presents an overview of the main issues that faced the international decision makers at the conference: environment and development, protecting the atmosphere and the oceans, waste management, land resources, biological diversity, fresh water resources and biotechnology.
