Working Paper # 8 Emerging Trends and Issues in Canada's Environmental Industry (November 1992)This paper focuses on the environmental services sector of the environmental industry, which is expected to create knowledge-based, high-technology jobs and new opportunities for investment and international trade. First, this report defines the industry and examines the lack of widespread understanding that surrounds it. Second, it considers government funding of research and development as they relate to environmental technologies. It also explores this country's position as a world environmental leader and how its strategic position can ensure the substantive changes needed in policies, administrations and businesses.
