Covering the Environment: A Handbook on Environmental Journalism
|
|
By Michael Keating for the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy (NRTEE) How we respond to environmental challenges will depend to a large extent on the information that we receive. News media play a major part in shaping our personal and political reactions to environmental problems. This handbook recognizes the critical role of journalists in providing environmental information and the need to support them in the difficult task of interpreting complex environmental issues. This handbook doesn’t provide all the answers, of course, but it includes a compact encyclopedia or glossary of the most common environmental topics and terminology, guides to effective coverage of environmental issues, and a directory of useful contacts. It is written for journalists by a journalist. |
