Meeting Overview

The National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy (NRT) hosted an ADM‐level meeting to discuss how Life Cycle Approaches can be used and supported by the Government of Canada. The NRT’s focus is on how to enhance economic competitiveness and environmental stewardship within Canada through the use of Life Cycle Approaches. Defining the role of the federal government is a key project goal.

Meeting Objectives

The session explored the potential responses and actions of the federal government in supporting the adoption of Life Cycle Approaches within Canada. The two main objectives of the session were to:

1. Validate the framing of key issues associated with Life Cycle Approaches in Canada, as presented by the NRT; and
2. Identify a suite of federal policy instruments / actions for recommendation to the Government of Canada.
