We generate ideas and provide realistic solutions to advise governments, Parliament and Canadians. We proceed with resolve and optimism to bring Canada’s economy and environment closer together.

January 25, 2012 – Rear Admiral Neil Morisetti Visit

The NRT hosted the visit and roundtable discussion with Rear Admiral Neil Morisetti, the UK Government Climate and Energy Security Envoy, on January 25, 2012 in Ottawa, ON. Rear Admiral Neil Morisetti addressed climate change as a broader national and economic security concern with wide-ranging impacts beyond the environmental context.

Rear Admiral Neil Morisetti is the UK Government Climate and Energy Security Envoy

Rear Admiral Neil Morisetti joined the Royal Navy in 1976. After initial training and university, he held various appointments at sea before assuming command of HMS CYGNET, a member of the Northern Ireland Squadron in 1986. Subsequent commands have included HMS CARDIFF and the aircraft carrier HMS INVINCIBLE. His staff appointments include three Ministry of Defence tours, in the Resources and Plans area, and as Director TOPMAST he was responsible for developing the manpower system for the Future Navy.

Promoted to Rear Admiral in 2005, he was then appointed Commander UK Maritime Force, the Royal Navy’s standing Maritime Component Commander, a position he held until July 2007. During this period he spent much of his time in the Middle East and acted as the NATO high Readiness Force Maritime Commander. He took over as the Commandant of the JSCSC in September 2007.
