OUR PROCESS

Our process helps Canada achieve sustainable development solutions that integrate environmental and economic considerations to ensure the lasting prosperity and well-being of our nation.

RESEARCH

We rigorously research and conduct high quality analysis on issues of sustainable development. Our thinking is original and thought provoking.

CONVENE

We convene opinion leaders and experts from across Canada around our table to share their knowledge and diverse perspectives. We stimulate debate and integrate polarities. We create a context for possibilities to emerge.

ADVISE

We generate ideas and provide realistic solutions to advise governments, Parliament and Canadians. We proceed with resolve and optimism to bring Canada’s economy and environment closer together.

DPR – 2010-2011: Description of Figure 6

Figure 6 illustrates the NRTEE’s Performance Measurement Framework. The Performance Measurement Framework is composed of three levels: NRTEE Outputs, Results, and Strategic Outcome.

NRTEE Outputs include:

  • High quality research and consultations
    • quality of policy research
    • effectiveness of stakeholder consultations
  • Sound Management
    • efficiency of program delivery
    • high quality personnel
    • conformity to MAF

These outputs lead to NRTEE Results which include:

  • Useful recommendations and advice
    • usefulness of policy advice and recommendations
  • Effective Communications
    • quality and reach of external communications
  • Increased awareness and understanding
    • level of awareness and understanding by federal decison-makers of NRTEE advice on selected issues
    • level of awareness and understanding by national stakeholders of NRTEE advice on selected issues

These results lead to the NRTEE’s Strategic Outcome which is:

  • Federal policy development on environment and economy issues, and decisions in other key sectors, is influenced by National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy advice on selected issues
    • Extent to which NRTEE advice is considered in policy decisions by federal decision-makers.
